Introductions

Well, For starters let me tell you a little about myself I'm 34 female. I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 11 years, we met in an Online game called Everquest.  We have 5 acres of land just outside of Denver Colorado we've been here just under 2 years now. We are currently raising 11 chickens 1 dog and 1 cat. This summer we are planing on fencing in most of our property and adding alpacas to our little homestead. I will also be expanding my personal garden this year and hope to learn some new ways to store my excess crops.

I have some health issues bursitis in my shoulder and IT Band Syndrome in my left knee are the most painful but I also suffer from migraines, sleep apnea, insomnia, acid re flux and I'm sure there's more that I have forgotten for the moment.

I have been trying to lose weight for more then 10 years now sometimes I'm better at it then other times but no matter how much I lose at a time it always comes creeping back. I have not been able to keep myself motivated and accountable over long periods of time. (This is part of why I'm here.) I've known for a long time I need to loose weight and I have been working on it rather successfully although slowly for the past 4 years until last year my left knee and right shoulder both started hurting me. I started seeing Orthopedic Dr's about both issues going for test after test after test. They sent me to Physical therapy which made me hurt more. I was given steroid injections in my knee that worked about as well as the therapy. Then, a year ago I was told my next step for my knee was likely exploratory surgery. Because they told me surgery was my next step I didn't go back to the Dr for a year as surgery scares me. In the meantime I was going to the gym working with a personal trainer 2 days a week and trying to be semi active the rest of the week. I was losing weight but the harder I worked the more my knee and shoulder hurt. My knee has gotten bad enough that I have put my gym membership on hold because I am not able to do much without severe pain.

Today I had an appt. with a new Ortho because my old one had left the Dr group I have been going to. They took new xray's and then The Dr informed me I'm not a candidate for surgery that my only options are losing weight and physical therapy. I wanted to scream "How am I supposed to lose weight when I can barely walk!"

Now here I am after some soul searching, Tears, screaming, scheming and plans I am here to try to log my progress for myself and anyone who happens to land on my humble blog. Today I am taking a new step into my future. I want to lose 100 lbs before I turn 40 that's just under 6 years. It seems like a long time out right now but all the "experts" say to make attainable goals both big and small so that is my first goal. It means I'm signing up for the long Haul and I'll take anyone who cares to join me along for the ride....

Here Goes Nothing
